W-L Molding of Michigan, LLC (formerly known as W-L Molding) was founded in 1945, and subsequently purchased by our current ownership in 2013. We are privately held, and nationally certified as a minority supplier by the Michigan Supplier Development Council.

We have an excellent team, who is exceptional in communicating with our customers. We welcome, and encourage, our customers to call any member of our team; no question or problem is too small or insignificant. We pride ourselves in giving our customers the utmost, expeditious attention and extraordinary service they deserve.

W-L Molding’s four operational centers are housed in our 50,000 square foot facility, serving customers in a wide variety of industries. Early on, we decided to not specialize in a specific type of component or customer, and therefore serve customers in the industries of: automotive (indirect only), electronics, fuel systems, household appliances, household products, health and beauty, medical, lawn and garden, and office furniture. Geographically, our customers are located throughout the entire United States, and internationally.

Who we are

With over 30 years of experience in multiple discipline of manufacturing of plastics products, current ownership acquired WL Molding in 2013. Team at WLM has extensive experience with highly engineered systems that require a deep understanding of critical business drivers in multiple locations and markets. Proven successful in building relationships with creditors and decision makers. Experience in seizing control of critical problems and delivering on customer commitments successfully. Following are some of the highlights of achievement of current team at WLM.

M&A and Turnarounds: Acquired multiple companies over ten years span from distressed condition and turn them around from either foreclosure to profitability or distressed to profitability. More than doubled sales three times in six years. Managed multiple companies through 2009 depression while creating great relationships with creditors.

Operations Management: Significant experience in overall cost improvement through strategic implementation of key indicator and drivers. Instituted feedback system through SPQDC system on a daily basis to provide continuous improvement direction to management team.

Lean Mfg. System Development and Implementation: LEAN manufacturing system development and implementation for various production systems including but not limited to LEAN Layout, Kanban cards, training, financials, profitability and teaching lean philosophy.

Continuous Improvement: WLM believes in continuous improvement as part of its day-to-day operation. Team works on maintaining close control over material & labor cost, producing innovative ideas to improve efficiency, throughput or reduce manpower requirement without sacrificing quality or any other indicators.

Product Development: WLM takes pride in being capable of being “build to print” to full design capable and able to coordinate integration. Between WLM and its partners, WLM carries in-house expertise to provide help to customer on part design for most efficient design for manufacturing. WLM strongly believes in upfront development through Value Engineering / Value analysis for best product launch. WLM carries inhouse capability to successfully participate in total cost management to develop innovative ideas and implementations to reduced manufacturing complexity and improved production capability of material, benchmark best practices and processes.
